How to choose & tips
- Join-in vs private: join-in bus tours are the cheapest; private tours add hotel pick-up and flexible timing.
- What a typical tour covers: Imjingak park, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Dora Observatory and sometimes Unification Village, Camp Greaves or the Peace Gondola — check each itinerary.
- Bring your original passport. Tours pass military checkpoints and listings require ID on the day.
- Book at least 2–3 days ahead; DMZ sites can close at short notice for military or weather reasons, and operators may change the itinerary.
- The DMZ is not the JSA (Panmunjom). Most day tours from Seoul do not enter the JSA — read the itinerary carefully.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the 3rd Tunnel walk is steep and tall visitors must stoop.

Can I visit the DMZ without a tour?
Imjingak is reachable by public transport, but the 3rd Tunnel and Dora Observatory sit inside the civilian control zone and are normally visited with an organised tour.
What do I need to bring on a DMZ tour?
Your original passport (not a copy). Operators check ID and will not take you without it.
How long is a DMZ tour from Seoul?
Half-day tours return around early afternoon; full-day tours with extra stops return in the evening. Times are on each listing.
Does the DMZ tour include the JSA?
